“Good news in my personal fight against chronic pain:
I’ve recently been following the new Roadmap to Wellness program for fibromyalgia patients devised by Sara Halevi, a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and Chronic Illness Coach, that involves an anti-inflammatory diet, exercise, meditation, and cognitive reframing, among other things.
I am astounded by the difference it is making in lowering my pain levels in all areas: fibromyalgia, chronic lower back pain, sciatica, and recurring bursitis.
I highly recommend the program.”

“Fibromyalgia is difficult to diagnose and to treat. This treatment guide for practitioners outlines and discusses, in a practical and concise volume, diagnostic challenges and solutions with recommendations. Central to treatment is the concept of a treatment team approach led by a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) who engages across a multi-faceted group of professionals. The CBT acts as a conduit, or case manager, for the team approach, moving away from the medical doctor and psychiatrist to bring in a host of providers. Many examples for treatment are given with several brief case studies as well as the author’s personal experiences.
Each chapter provides details and challenges important to development of an effective treatment plan that is individualized across the treatment professionals. This guide can be helpful to meeting the challenges of treating this difficult syndrome. Sara Halevi, author, shares her knowledge and breadth of experience in this valuable contribution to the field. By going from diagnosis challenges to description of the many faceted factors from pain management to a myriad of accompanying disorders that challenges effective treatment, the Fibro practitioner is helped in work with each individual to gain or regain as full functioning as possible. The key to effective treatment is the team approach that is well described and researched in this guide. This treatment guide is clear, concise and well written. I am confident that this book, as well as additional material under separate publication, will be a valuable resource for practitioners and the treatment team.”

“Sara’s book provides a succinct overview of the background and treatment for this complex illness. The suggested treatment protocol is clear and easy to follow. I would highly recommend the book as a resource for mental health practitioners who are treating Fibro patients.”
Ian Friedman, Clinical Psychologist
“It pulls together all the many different sites / journals / treatment options that I have read up in so many different places and put it together in one clear place. Certainly I think it provides a clear insight into what a fibro patient goes through emotionally and what a hard place it is for both the doctor and patient as it isn’t a clear cut and dry ‘disease’ to identify.”
Karen Barron, MA, Psychotherapist
“You have shed new light on the treatment of this highly complex disorder. I find your book empowering for clinicians such as myself who have felt lost to provide tangible help for these complex cases.”
Rochelle Shapiro, MA, LMFT
“I took Sara Halevi’s training course for therapists on working with clients with Fibromyalgia. She’s a great teacher and has an excellent command of the material. I learned a lot!”
Talya Roth, Clinical Psychologist, Jerusalem
“Amazing Therapist! She was amazing when I was ill. She is warm, fun and caring!! Absolutely magnificent and brilliant!”
“When my daughter was in her senior year of high school, she was stressed… Always a high achiever, she was taking a double course load. One day she got a sore throat, got into bed, and didn’t get out of bed for three months! Her family doctor said it was depression, and put her on antidepressants. My daughter insisted she wasn’t depressed, a view confirmed my a psychiatrist. She began seeing Sara for CBT. Within six weeks, she was out of bed, and soon back to herself. I can’t recommend Sara highly enough!”
As a lay-person with a strong interest in the workings of the human mind, integrative whole-person care, AND the value of clinical scientific rigor, I found this guide to be accessible, intelligent and readable. The model that Sarah Halevi offers has important implications for practitioners treating not only Fibromyalgia, but also any number of other highly individual constellations of chronic challenges to health, vitality and wellbeing. In her book and the model she proposes, Halevi strikes and sustains a “sweet spot” that honors the truth of individual experience, the clinical contributions of up-to-date research and understandings about pain, and the complexities of human behavior in patient and practitioner alike. She brings her professional and personal experience to bear in a way that is remarkably down-to-earth, compassionate, and open-minded. At the same time, this highly practical model reflects the author’s extraordinary knowledge base, rooted in clinical research and experience, all meticulously documented within. An immediately usable, valuable and forward-thinking contribution!
Sara is the real deal, with a no nonsense, practical and encouraging approach. She herself was diagnosed with fibro about 25 years ago and since then has created a life approach that allows her to live symptom free and also provide affordable/accessible counseling/consulting for those with chronic illness.
